Over the
past eleven years, IMAC has become the industry standard
system for replacing printers in industrial control rooms.
IMAC is currently in use by all the major oil and gas
companies world wide, together with many other process
industries. More and more people are realizing that they
can get rid of their noisy, paper hungry, unreliable,
expensive printers and replace them with a single PC.
The package
runs under Windows XP, 2000, NT4 on a standard PC and
will replace up to eight alarm/report or event printers
in a control room environment. No changes are required
to your existing system. You simply set up one window
on the screen for every printer you are replacing, then
unplug the cables from your printers and plug them into
your PC. Each window acts just like a separate printer
displaying the data as it arrives in real time and logging
it to the hard disk. Using the mouse buttons you can 'zoom
in' to any window and search back for anything over weeks
or months.
Client
Server Design
IMAC is
split into two programs, the Server and the Client.
The Server part runs in the background gathering data,
the Client is then used to view that data. On a stand-alone
system, both Server and Client would run on a single
PC. On a networked system multiple Servers and multiple
Clients can run. simultaneously. For example, any number
of Clients can be used to simultaneously view data on
one or more Servers situated in one or more control
rooms
